Today I really wanted to go find some sailboats to photograph
(I love sailing, but haven't been in years).
That was my plan, however the responsible homeowner in me decided to take advantage of the sunshine and cooler temps and wash windows (what was I thinking?).
These birds were flying all over my yard (I am terrified of birds - but I did grab the camera -
not great pictures - maybe 2 points for facing my fear).
My new goal has been to try and not miss a photo opportunity (I have missed many)
and I hope by staying home that I did not.
Maybe another day I will find those sailboats
(I am not even sure where to go - but I certainly will look).

This is called a lithophane (the first image is unlit and the second one lit).
I have given many as gifts and always wanted one myself, so finally was able to get one.
I am not a fan of birds, however this scene is so peaceful that I really like it.
A little history:
Porcelain lithophanes were popular in the 1800's and used as candle screens and lamp shades. The design is created only by variations in the thickness of the porcelain. Color is applied to the back and as light passes through, you see each detail.

The assignment: Two things somehow connected..
The rocker is where I used to rock my daughter and the blanket was a favorite of hers.
The book, "Love You Forever", was one that I read to her often.
I miss those days of reading to her and then rocking her to sleep,
yet I am so proud of the amazing young woman that she has become.
To my daughter, a quote from the book,
"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be".
