Today I visited my favorite antique store and spotted this very pretty item and asked what it was used for. Imagine my surprise when I was told that it was a "slop pot" - the commodes were emptied into this! Such a beautiful item for that purpose - I couldn't believe it!
The items below are butter crocks - I really like the blue one!! I should visit more often - I spotted a lot of things to photograph!
